Louise Taylor - PhysiotherapistLouise Taylor graduated as a physiotherapist in 1991 from the University of Manitoba and has been consulting with THE Downtown Sports Clinics since 1993. Her sports practice has partially evolved with her personal interests in a number of related activities. Louise has trained for running races such as the marathon and triathlons including the Ironman distance and also enjoys hiking, biking and downhill skiing in the mountains. Working as a team with coaches, personal fitness trainers, athletes and other physiotherapists has also been very valuable.

Louise's greatest skills are in analyzing biomechanical problems, identifying root causes and then treating with a combination of manual therapy and exercise prescription. She achieved qualifications in Spinal Manipulation in 1999 and uses these techniques to mobilize the spine and pelvis. Her patients range from sedentary office worker to highly trained athletes. Nobody gets away without home exercise to help them achieve and maintain better muscle balance.

In 2003, Louise certified in Acupuncture and has been enlightened by seeing the sometimes very powerful effects of this approach. Acupuncture has also increased her understanding of the need to have a more holistic approach in the care and maintenance of the body. She also uses dry needling techniques to facilitate the release of tight muscles.

Special areas of interest are injuries related to the aging athlete and issues related to the spine, pelvis and shoulder girdle. A more recent area of study has been breathing dysfunction and its influence on general muscle tightness and chronic pain states.
